Affinity’s color panel is a powerful tool in palette building

Affinity’s Color panel includes built-in color chord (or “harmony”) options that update in real time. These chord include tints, shades, tones, complementary, split complementary, square, analogous, accented analogous, triadic, and tetradic. It is a powerful tool in palette building.

After you select a primary color, the panel instantly shows related colors at the bottom part of the panel. These colors appear as swatches, making it easy for you to compare options side by side. You can also export these swatches as a custom palette, which makes this feature especially useful for building cohesive color schemes.

To get started, choose a primary color. Then select a harmony type—such as analogous or tetradic, the panel will show you the generated swatches based on that color relationship. This approach helps anchor your design in a clear and logical color structure.

By using the harmony options in the panel, color selection becomes more systematic and intuitive, while still allowing for a wide range of creative combinations.
